Dallol is a place in the Danakil Depression in N/W Ethiopia and is known as one of the hottest places on earth. It is actually a large volcano crator. Dallol is one of the world's most spectacular landscapes: a vast area of uplifted thick salt deposits affected by intense fumarolic activity, probably caused by an active volcanic system beneath several kilometers of evaporation salt deposits. I was there on a tour through North Ethiopia and I never saw such beautiful colors. And believe me the colors in the pictures are real, no Photoshop! Please enjoy the magic world of Dallol !
